- Seminaril anname ülevaate nii olemasolevatest kui ka võimalikest tulevastest (USA) sanktsioonidest riikide kaupa, sh analüüsime Venemaa ja Hiinaga seonduvat. Samuti tuleb jutuks, millele tähelepanu pöörata ennetamaks sanktsioneerimist, sh nt millal tuleb USA sanktsioone järgida, milline on USA poolt nõutav hoolsusmäär jne.
- Lisaks tutvustame üht konkreetset juhtumit sanction-compliance DD telgitagustest, st miks ja mida antud kaasuses vaadati, kuidas konkreetseid tehinguid analüüsiti jne.
Hommikuseminaril esineb Jeffrey W. Cottle, Partner Eversheds Sutherland USA-st, kes tegeleb majanduskuritegude ja nõuetele vastavuse küsimustega, keskendudes eelkõige pettustele, korruptsioonile, rahapesuvastasele võitlusele, kaubandussanktsioonidele ja ekspordikontrollile.

You are welcome to attend the Eversheds Sutherland morning seminar on Tuesday, 16 April 9.00 AM-11.30 AM at our office.
Coffee will be served from 8.30 AM.
- In this seminar, we will give a country-by-country overview of existing and possible future (US) sanctions, including an analysis of Russia and China. We will also discuss extra-territorial application of US sanctions and how to mitigate the risks of sanctions, including e.g. the level of due diligence required by the US etc.
- In addition, we will present one specific case study of sanction-compliance DD, i.e. why and what was investigated in this case, how specific transactions were analysed, etc.
Topics will be presented by Jeffrey W. Cottle, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland USA, focuses on white-collar crime and compliance matters, with an emphasis on fraud, corruption, anti-money laundering, trade sanctions and export controls.
Seminar will be held at Eversehds Sutherland’s office at Kentmanni 4 and is free of charge.

Jeffrey W. Cottle on töötanud juhtiva õigusnõustajana suurettevõtetes peakorteritega USAs, Euroopas ja Austraalias. Ta on juhtinud vastavuskontrolli ja/või korruptsioonivastase võitluse funktsiooni ettevõtetes, mis tegutsevad või teevad tehinguid kõige riskirohkemates globaalsetes jurisdiktsioonides Aafrikast Aasiani ja Euraasiast Ladina-Ameerikani, pöörates erilist tähelepanu nafta- ja gaasitööstusele, kaevandustööstusele ning lennundus- ja kaitsetööstusele. Lisaks on ta olnud mitu aastat tegevteenistuses USA mereväe luureohvitserina, osalenud välimissioonidel ja töötanud Pentagonis staabiülemana ning erru läinud komandöri auastmes. Talle on omistatud teenetemärk oma rolli eest operatsioonides Süürias, Liibanonis ja Pärsia lahel, sh operatsioonis “Kõrbetorm“.
Jeffrey W. Cottle, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland USA, focuses on white-collar crime and compliance matters, with an emphasis on fraud, corruption, anti-money laundering, trade sanctions and export controls.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Jeff held senior positions as in-house compliance counsel at major corporations headquartered in the US, Europe, and Australia. He has been the head of the compliance and/or anti-corruption function at companies with operations in high-risk jurisdictions, from Africa to Asia, and from Eurasia to Latin America with a particular emphasis on the oil and gas, extractives, and aerospace and defense industries.
He has spent several years as an active-duty US Naval Intelligence officer, with field tours and at the Pentagon at the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, eventually retiring with the rank of Commander. He was decorated for his role in operations in Syria, Lebanon, and the Persian Gulf, including Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
